Professional Detailers Can Learn A Thing Or Two...

I have been a "Pro" Detailer for almost 20 years of my life and a serious enthusiast detailer for over 15 years! In 1998 I started my company and over that decade, I have had cars and showed them but the passion was not the same...you see I had to earn from my efforts and detailing took on a new meaning.

At one time, I detailed for fun only and I did so almost every weekend! I went to shows all over Southern California and was a regular at the Pomona Swap Meet for years. I detailed my own cars and for others that shared a like passion for cars, aircraft and bikes!

I remember working with others on someone's car that was late getting ready for an event...how fun it was to all bust our butts and then rag on the cars owner about how hard we had worked and he owed us big time! In truth, we repeated this same event many, many weeks each year and I had a blast doing so!

This past week, I had the chance to once gain take part within one of the largest aviation events in the world...the motherland of aviation...OSHKOSH!

This year, much has changed in the world when we look back just a year ago and while I was a presenter and talked with thousands of detailing enthusiast...I went back to being a detailing enthusiast myself. It changed the entire event for me. I felt that passion for aircraft and cars...I did not have to make a buck from my efforts...I was one of them and it was fantastic! I love rat rods and I found some rat rod aircraft and the simplicity of this was so cool!

While this was an aviation event, I was able to help and mix it up with some serious auto detailing pro's and enthusiast alike! Its unreal...several product and equipment manufactures were there...most not displaying but just being enthusiast and loving the pureness of this event and these were the Owners, Presidents and VP's of these large organizations. WOW...how cool was that to be relaxed and just digging the cool stuff we were able to see! One of my buddies Dave went along and as a lifetime pilot who fly's G550 for household names...he was blown away! Just having Dave there and taking part was cool as he is not just a pilot but a car guy too and where there are planes...there are cars and bikes...even Orange County Choppers took part!

My point to all this...why are you a detailer? Is it profit or passion based? This detailer can tell you that if you can lead with the passion and master your art all while making a living while keeping the passion ablaze...you will be much happier within your life and business!

What a great gift to be working within something we love...cars, planes and bikes...life is what we make it and so is business! Thank you to my fellow enthusiast for sharing with me your passion...you awoke something new in me this last week that has made my life brighter!

While I make a living within detailing...I have the passion of the enthusiast! Thanks to you die-hards that allowed me to help you with your detailing efforts this past week...it made the trip a complete success! If you are a pro...keep in mind why you started this business and make sure to get some time detailing for fun...don't always make it about the buck and see your passion (and profits) go nuts!
