Optimum Opti-coat 2.0

We know you may already have heard of this product. We know its not been a well kept secret. We know you also may not belive how good this stuff is. But its a product so unique....so revolutionary.....yet so easy to use....that will protect your paint surface for a lifetime? Its here. It's Opti-coat and Opti guard for even added protection.

As you may know we have many unique Optimum products. This is a product that to be honest with you....most people will not believe, and will think is a hype like many other products out there. David has worked on this for a very long time and the secret about this product actually leaked out a few years ago. But it was not yet ready and not yet a perfect product. As with many revolutionary products, there were glitches and obstacles.But now the new Opti coat 2.0 and Opti guard professional are ready! Opti-Coat and Opti guard are PERMANENT paint protection.

You read it right. Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is a permanent coating that protects automotive paint over its lifetime! Unlike a wax or sealant, Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 will not wash or wear off. It acts as a second layer of clear coat which provides increased protection against the elements. Formerly only available to professionals, Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is now available to the public in a more user-friendly formula. It wont wear off. It cant be wiped off. It is permanent!

 Here is the technical description.......This is a very unique resin with a silicon carbide back-bone that is very reactive toward other surfaces and moisture. It will bond permanently with urethane and other clear coats, polycarbonate, glass and other silicates, as well as metals and can only be removed by polishing or chemical paint removers. Once the resin is exposed to moisture, it will cross link rapidly and forms a clear finish that has better scratch and mar resistance, better UV resistance, better etch resistance, and better release properties than urethanes. This means that surfaces coated with Opti-Coat will stay cleaner longer and are much easier to clean afterward. Since Opti-Coat seals moisture and air out, it will effectively protect surfaces from oxidation and corrosion. Opti-Coat is dry to the touch within 30 minutes and cures within 12 hours.

Here is the layman's description......Its easy to use. It works and you need it on your vehicle and your customers vehicles. It simply is the best protection product ever made.

It is an added layer of protection and an added layer of clear coat resin that will permanently bond to virtually any hard surface. Its transparent, will not yellow or fade and you will never know its there....until its time to clean the car and you realize that nothing wants to stick and how easy dirt just seems to run off. It can be used on glass but its a little more tricky to apply and should not be attempted until you are very skilled in its application

The paint surface needs to be as perfect as you can get it and properly prepared before application. Any imperfections such as scratches, grit or dirt dirt, scuffs, etc will be locked in one yo apply the coating. It wont hurt anything but then removal of the imperfection will result in having to reapply the Opti coating.

Optimum micro fiber pad 6.25

Introducing an amazing new pad technology…….Microfiber!

It’s been talked about before. It’s been tried before…..and failed. Similar textures have been tried and failed. But the NEW Optimum micro fiber pad is different….and better.

We have tested versions of his pad before and while previous samples were good; this one is finally what you have always been looking for. The deep pile micro fibers hold polish, wax or compound easily in the pad and distribute it very evenly over the paint surface while contouring to all the curves, pockets and valleys. The pad works extremely hard while you do not and it leaves a finish and gloss so good that many cars can truly be completed with one buffing step

This pad works so well with all of our buffing products that it seems it was made specifically for our products! It cuts but leaves almost a perfect finish. It polishes perfectly. It WILL NOT splatter

Older micro fiber pads had issues. They delaminated from the foam backing. This one WILL NOT. The Optimum Microfiber Polishing Pads are made with a new, advanced laminating system that ensures the pads will not separate or delaminate. Older micro fiber pads created far too much heat. That was because the wrong foam was used for the backing. The Optimum micro fiber uses a special open cell and thicker foam to disperse heat, especially when used with an orbital buffer. This ensures a great cut, superior cushioning for a great feel, but almost zero marring or hazing

This pad can be used with a rotary or an orbital buffer. But it really “shines” with orbital use! We have found superior results with all orbital buffers in both compounding and polishing. It cuts as good or better than the orange or yellow stiff foam pads while leaving less of the marring that these pads cause in compounding with an orbital buffer.

For polishing we have found it to “remove” swirls left with a rotary buffer and a wool pad. It’s amazing in its cutting ability while also producing a flawless finish. New Optimum GPS

We have so many new and new and improved products that are coming out very soon. We have been working on many of these for a year and they are finally here. We have created a new spray one step product called Optimum GPS. This is a spray version glaze, polish and sealant all in one. It will be available in the next 2 weeks. It has very minute abrasives which gives it a fine cutting ability to remove (not hide) minor imperfections and remove swirls. It will brighten and clean the paint surface as well, leaving an awesome gloss. And there is a sealer in it to leave long lasting protection.

This is a product that is also BODY SHOP SAFE! We wanted to have a product that body shops could use as well and of course in our dealings with car manufactures, they demand a product be body shop safe. So we gave it to them and now we are giving it to you. It’s just an added bonus. This spray product can be sprayed directly on to a foam pad without splatter, or a micro fiber pad (which we will also have very soon). As with all of our other products, a little goes a very long way and it’s so slick and the gloss is phenomenal. This product will end up being a great go-to product for those fairly easy vehicles that do not need much. How we develop and test an Optimum product

Sure, everyone tests products before they hit the market. But it’s the level of testing and development that make a huge difference. In the case of an Optimum product, we don’t have the wiggle room to make a mistake. The “Big Guys” can release a subpar product and if it’s not well accepted they just release another product shortly thereafter and everyone forgets about it. This is one reason why some of the competition has dozens of similar products available

All that does is confuse a detailer about which one to purchase. If the product is subpar and does not work as you expect, its wasted money. In the case of a “Big Guy” if you don’t like it, you will probably just buy another one of their products. We don’t have that luxury. If one of our products does not work as advertised, you will probably not give us another shot as we don’t have a “Big Guy” name. So when we develop a new product it has to be well thought out, carefully planned, thoroughly tested and tested again, tweaked and tweaked some more…..then we can release it.

The thinking

When David wants to make a new product, he talks about it first and sets the goals

1. What is the product supposed to do?
2. Is there a need for it?
3. Who will use it?
4. How fast can it work?
5. Is it safe for the vehicle and the user?
6. What is the time frame for release?
7. Can it be as good or better than what the “Big Guys” have
8. Can it be unique in that nobody else has anything like it?

If the answers are satisfactory and the project looks promising, only then can it move forward.

The Execution

Making a sample may seem easy. When David and I first started working on the polish and compound about 6 years ago, I gave him a rather large list of specific things I needed the product to do. He said he could do it and I waited for samples like a kid at Christmas. But in testing initial samples, sometimes (well, many times) they don’t perform flawlessly. When samples are poor or just fair, all aspects need to be discussed on what was good or bad, the level of performance, how it works on certain vehicles in certain situations, etc. From there, the data is recorded and adjustments are made. If subsequent samples start to improve, then we are headed in the right direction. Sometimes samples only improve by a very little bit. Sometimes, we see that a product needs to go in a completely different direction and we exhaust the adjustments of a particular formula, deem it inacceptable, and sometimes start over. It’s exciting when we know we are getting close but even then a formula may have to be tweaked a dozen times before its perfect.

Testing, testing and more testing

Product samples, especially buffing products need to be tested in so many ways. They need to be tested as follows:

1. on various makes and models of varying years
2. They need to be tested for performance as far as aggressiveness
3. ease of use,
4. workability and how smooth it is while buffing and a long working time (an Optimum trademark)
5. ease of wiping off
6. dusting
7. level of swirl marks if any
8. how it works with different buffers both high speed and orbital’s
9. how it works at different speeds of the buffer
10. how it works with all the different pads both wool and foam and not clog the pad
11. stay where its put and not run or sag
12. and of course create a great shine, gloss and clarity

This is a huge amount to ask for in any buffing product. And you really need to hit on every one of the points to make it as perfect as possible. The problem is that we would solve a few points but sometimes lose a few points. It’s just the way chemistry goes, especially when you need to be so precise. We have made and tested literally hundreds of samples to be where the products are today. Each and every sample was discussed about how well or poor its performance was and we have spent countless hours on the phone (like 2 teenage schoolgirls) discussing the samples and where we needed to go with them

The difference is that we have such great communication and trust we can get it done with just the 2 of us. Of course once we have a great working sample we also have other people do some testing. We get their feedback and still make more adjustments. We discuss the label and how to write the description of the product and its directions. There is no stone left unturned before it’s a finished product and released to the detail community. This is why we have come do far in such a relatively short period of time

Working with the OEM (car manufacturers)

They are all a tough bunch. No matter who you work with they push you to the limit and make you do things you never even thought you could do. It’s an honor and a privilege to even be asked by a car manufacturer to help them with a specific project. We have developed such a great reputation that we will be asked to solve a problem at a car plant in regards to a product or a situation they are having. Not everyone is in this position. Of course the “Big Guys” have been working with the car manufacturers forever. They have been around forever. But we have been invited to the party now and we don’t intend to leave. From our work with the car manufacturers, it has pushed us to make even better products that you can use. We have sourced new ingredients and found different ways of formulating the products which I will talk about in a future addition. We have some of the most innovative stuff out there in all aspects of detailing products. They are some of the safest and most effective products you can buy.

I just wanted to tell you here the level of work and testing that goes into all Optimum products and the skill, expertise, knowledge and professionalism of all involved.
