Hi Def Detail Showcase – 2007 Dodge Magnum

When a new client calls or visits the Hi Def Detail Center we always ask a few questions about their car’s appearance goals, daily driving style and regular maintenance routines.  These questions help us to determine the personalized detailing recommendations based on that owners driving situation. While we do offer several value-propositioned detail packages, we particularly specialize in creating custom solutions for owners and their cars.

That brings us to today’s Hi Def Detail Showcase – 2007 Dodge Magnum SRT-8.

The owner first contacted us with interest in one of our Detail Package Specials.   While that package is an awesome deal for most drivers, his car’s appearance needs required some additional consideration.  The owner said he drives on dirt roads every day his car is exposed to a lot of dust and debris.  He washes the car at home regularly but had not clay barred the paint in 4 years.  Additionally the car is exposed to the rural system’s  hard water and he is inconsistent with a regular waxing/paint protection routine.

 Here’s what the car looked like BEFORE we started the detail process:

As you can see the car is covered in gravel dust.  After rinsing the car off we could see all the hard water stains on the glass and panels, swirl marks from improper washing techniques, light stratches and tons of brake dust.

At this point we knew this black beast needed something a little more the “special” so we developed a customized detail solution that would accomplish the following goals:

- Remove noticable paint defects (swirls, scratches, hard water marks)

- Protect the car’s exterior paint, glass, trim from the harsh environmental elements (dust, bird poop and hard water)

- Make it easier and faster for the owner to clean the car

- Save the client  money on future detail product purchases

I know one business that I would invest in if I am ever given the opportunity. Hi-Def Auto Detail. Hopefully, you have heard of them if you live in Dallas and like a sparkling clean automobile. Why would I invest in Hi-Def? Not because I think the auto detail business is a great industry. Yes, I love the company’s future plans and think the owner has done a great job in plotting his next steps. But that’s not it either. I would invest in Hi-Def because Cameron Johnson, the owner of the company is “ON FIRE.”

Cameron is not literally “on fire” but if you ever have the opportunity to talk to him about his business you will instantly agree with my statement. Cameron oozes with PASSION about his business and detailing cars. It is obvious that he loves what he does and that he knows what he is talking about. Cameron is ON FIRE! He believes in his business model and his business plan. He is TOTALLY committed to executing it. This is one business that is not going to fail because he is not going to allow it to fail.

1) You think about it ALL THE TIME. You think about it in your sleep, when you are awake, when you are eating, when you are working out, when you are at your current job, when you pray. 3) It’s hard for you not to talk about your business. I remember being in the pre-launch stage of my first start-up venture. It was so hard not to always talk about the business we were planning. Everyone involved wanted to shout it from the rooftops. We wanted to announce that we were open way before we were open.
4) The mention or thought of the business brings a smile to your face. You are sitting at your desk building a complex spreadsheet to solve the latest crisis to end all crises at your company when you think about the business venture you are pouring the bulk of your non-work time. A big smile forms on your face. Suddenly, the world is a better place even though nothing has changed really. But you know that your personal dream is going to work out and you are excited about it.

If you can relate to these 4 descriptions then you have been or are now “on fire” about your business. If your flame burns this brightly, and you construct a thorough and inclusive business plan, and you execute well against it, you will be successful.

FREEDOM ONE WATERLESS CAR WASH: Car Washing My Way

I’m fortunate that I’m a stay at home mom with a part-time career that I can enjoy in the confines of my home/office.  But that’s become somewhat of a problem, too.  I’m finding that I need something more physical to do besides housework to make the day enjoyable.  I don’t have the time to go to the gym, and the home exercise videos are ok, but can get repetitious.  When I voiced my concerns to my husband, he jokingly said, “Well, you could always wash the car!”.

At first, I got angry.  But the more I thought about it, I sort of liked the idea of doing something constructive that was physical and being able to help hubby out at the same time.  So I began looking for car wash products.  It’s cold here, even though I’m in the South, so getting outdoors to wash the car was out of the question.  Because the TV is always on to provide background noise, the commercial for the Freedom One Waterless Car Wash on an As Seen On TV commercial caught my eye. Because I could clean my car in the garage where it’s sort of warm without using the freezing cold water from the hose, I thought it might work for me.

But before ordering, I asked my husband to check it out.  He liked that it that it contained surfactants to lift off dirt and that the natural soaps were environmentally friendly.  But I think most of all, he liked that the polymer polish formula was wax free so that I wouldn’t leave a white residue if I got any on any vinyl or rubber. So for about $28 (including shipping) I ordered it.  It sounded expensive until I figured out that I’d get 5 to 10 washes from the 32 oz. bottle, and not have used any water.

So, after it came in, I waited until after school so I could get some help from the kids.  I gave them each a panel to do, and I took the rest.  I started at the top like the directions said, and worked down.  The Freedom One Waterless Car Wash just sprays on, wipes off, and buffs up!  They sent two microfiber towels with the order that work great for the wiping and buffing.  I probably used too much of the wash on my initial venture, and am now not using nearly as much of the product to get the same great result.

Speaking of the results, our car isn’t new, so I really didn’t expect much in the way of a renewed showroom luster.  I was really surprised (and so was my husband!) at the great shine I got.  I’ve been able to keep it looking great with just a few touchup sessions.  The nice thing is that the kids really did a good job on their sections, and want to do it again.  Now…getting your kids to enjoy helping with a project is something worth talking about!
